September 19, 2010 is the 3rd annual Tour de Mississauga. This is a special year of the Tour for cycling clubs and teams as they are introducing a 100km road-only route based on feedback from last year’s participants. It is tagged as the “Gears Challenge Road Ride“. For those of you who would prefer some sub-urban off-roads, we have the 60km “Cyclepath Signature Ride”.

The Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee http://www.mississaugacycling.ca

(MCAC) would love to see a strong representation of cycling clubs/teams in the area. Cycling clubs are encouraged to show up in their jerseys/jackets and colours in order to promote their club/team to other cyclists in the area. The Tour’s Club Leaderboard will track the number of cyclists registered from each club/team. A page on the Tour’s website will list logos and links of the participating cycling clubs and their running total. Top clubs will also get special recognition at the event and have the honour of taking “pole position” on the first wave to depart.

The Tour de Mississauga is not a race, but a social ride for all cyclists that shows off the expanding cycling network in Mississauga. Although it isn’t a race, club members are free to “show us what they got”. Just remember that all rules of the road must be followed (same basic rules as the Race Across America). Cyclists will enjoy a free BBQ courtesy of the Region of Peel when they reach the finish.

This year’s Tour de Mississauga showcases the cycling routes of the Northwest quadrant of Mississauga. The ride departs and ends at Vic Johnston Arena in Streetsville.
Rapha makers of fine (and expensive) cycling wear is promoting cycling by posting some rare films on the web . TRhew concept seems to follow in the footsteps of them BMW films which were entertaining spotlights of the BMW products. The excerpt below is from Pez Cycling News

Bob B

Over the course of the next three Fridays, August 13, 20, and 27th Rapha will be screening three exclusive films on the front of their homepage. The films have been produced by Ridley Scott Associates (yes, that Ridley Scott) for Rapha to highlight our Club Jersey's from the Summer 2010 line.

The films will each be screened ONE DAY ONLY starting this Friday.

The first film A Throw Of The Dice. is Director Nick Livesey's take on famed Professional Bike Racer and Thrice Paris-Roubaix winner Johan Museeuw and features footage from last years Paris Roubaix as well as footage from Museeuw's winning years. It is a very intimate look at what the race means through the eyes of one of its fiercest competitors - The Lion of Flanders (Museeuw). The directors were given free rein to interpret as they will and it goes without saying that Livesey took this explorations to the utmost maximum to produce one of the strangest, most compelling and visually stunning short films about a bicycle racer .

Below you will find links to all three of the trailers as they live on the Rapha site. The full length films will NOT be available to embed, and will only be accessible for 24 hours. So, please help us in getting the word out there.

Trailer One:
A Throw of the Dice
Premiers August 13th

Trailer Two:
Two Broad Arrows
Premiers August 20th

Trailer Three:
Of Steel
Premiers August 27th

Hello all;

For anyone who's been watching Le Tour on OLN is no doubt aware (who could imagine how many commercials they can cram in per hour...), the 2011 Ride to Conquer Cancer registration is now open.

Phil Hodgson and I rode together in the 2010 ride, and I know there were others in BCC who rode in this year's event too.

Phil and I have already registered for the 2011 Toronto event (June 11-12, 2011), and we'd be happy to have you join our team. I've also registered for the Alberta Ride to Conquer Cancer for a bit of a different challenge this year...

Registration for the Toronto event was full in mid-August last year. If you are interested in joining 4,000+ other riders in an amazing weekend, don't delay. Register today.

Please note there is a fundraising commitment attached to registering. You will need to raise at least $2,500 before the event starts in order to be able to ride. It sounds hard, but with effort and some fundraising activities it is possible. More than 4,000 people did it this year!

Go to http://www.conquercancer.ca/goto/jasonroth and click "Join Jason's Team" to get started.

Kind regards,

J.
