Racing Guides
The position of VP Racing is currently vacant and as a result there is no
racing program for 2010.
Time Trial Series
- BCC member points per event will be determined in two ways for both women and men:
- From the order of finish based on the handicapped time that will count towards both the Time Trial Series and the overall points championship (BAR)
- The actual order of finish that will be used in the age grouping award calculations.
- The points distribution will be 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 for first place through tenth place plus one point for all completing what they start.
- The handicap being used is the system generously provided to the BCC by the Ontario Masters Cycling
Association and generally works as follows:
- Minimum age for women to qualify is 35 years of age
- Minimum age for men to qualify is 40 years of age
- 00:00:18 sec handicap is applied per year over the minimum age (as per the BCC Age Grouping Category listing) , plus a 1.5 second handicap for the particular event at the particular time of the month , using a 40 KTT as the base calculation
- The two hill climbs provide BCC members the chance to earn TT points and BAR points and the opportunity to claim the fastest overall individual time up the hill. A queen and king of the hill will be crowned at the banquet.
- The Time Trial Series will award the top three BCC women and men racers.
Criterium Series
- All criteriums this season will be age handicapped.
- Parking generously offered to us by Mr. Jim King of Technicolor Canada Inc. (15 Hereford St., 2nd driveway on Edgeware).
- The BCC member points distribution will be as follows:
- 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 points for first place through fifth place overall
- 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 points for each racers' relative placing in their age group
- Plus one point for all riders successfully completing the event
- Points also count towards the overall points championships
- Actual order of finish points garnered will be used when determining the age group award placements.
- Riders will be given numbers, to be returned after the event, that are to be pinned to the left side of their jersey.
- At year end banquet the top three BCC women and men criterium points earners will be awarded.
Sprint Series
- Based on a series of elimination sprint heats.
- Parking generously offered to us by Mr. Jim King of Technicolor Canada Inc.
(15 Hereford St. – 2nd driveway on Edgeware). - Warm-up period around the crit course of say about one half hour prior to the first heats. Registration will be closed at this moment.
- BCC female members will compete in their own category as will BCC male members, for the club points calculations.
- For simplicity, non-members will compete in a separate series of heats.
- At the end, the overall finalists can have a sprint for fun bragging rights and ego staking claims.
- Each heat will have no more than five racers.
- The number of elimination heats will be determined by the number of participants in the event.
- Each rider will be assigned a number, to be returned after the event, that is to be pinned to the left side of their jersey.
- Racers will be randomly placed by their number into lanes and further elimination heats right up until the final, to keep the competition as fair as possible.
- Each heat will have the racers complete one practice lap followed by one hot lap which culminates in a sprint that starts at the last corner on the back straight of the crit course and ends at the normal finish line (distance of approx. 300 m).
- All BCC entrants receive one point. The finalists will receive 5 points for reaching the final plus 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 points based on their placing in the final heat. Four points go to the riders eliminated in the penultimate round of heats, three points to those eliminated in the round of heats before the penultimate one, two points in the previous round, and one point to the first people eliminated. So, the points distribution would typically look like this : 11 - 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 .
- At the awards banquet, the female and male BCC riders amassing the most sprint series points will be crowned as queen and king of the sprints.
Road Race Series
- Australian Pursuit style format will be used this season.
- Non BCC riders will start each race in the last grouping.
- BCC member points will be awarded based on actual order of finish ( 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 ) plus one point for all racers successfully crossing the finish line.
- Points garnered will also tally towards the overall points championships.
- Riders will be given numbers, to be returned after the race, that shall be pinned on the left side. unless requested otherwise by race officials.
- The Road Race Series will award the top three BCC women and men at the year end banquet.
40 KM 2-UP Team TT
- Both riders must be BCC members to qualify for seasonal club points.
- The time officially logged will be when both members of the team have crossed the finish line.
- Teams may be all female or all male or co-ed.
60 KM 4-UP Team TT
- All four riders must be BCC members to qualify for seasonal club points.
- The time officially logged will be when the third rider of each team has crossed the finish line.
- Entrant teams will be categorized as one of the following :
- Open (all males or three males and one female)
- Mixed (two females and two males or three females and one male)
- Women (all females)
