Title: GTA West Corridor Route - bye bye Old School & Heritage Roads
Post by: Julie Rossall on September 15, 2019, 10:02:30 PM
The provincial government is forging ahead with a 400 series highway to run from the 400 in Vaughan, just south of Bolton, roughly across Old School Road and down Heritage Road, to the 401/407 area.  Stated benefits are greater connectivity between urban growth centres, enhanced people and goods movement, improved commuting and greater economic vitality. Clearly this has a huge permanent impact on some of our favourite cycling corridors, and the Greenbelt.  I don't know the timing. Come to one of three upcoming public info sessions and learn more:  Thurs Sept 19 4-8pm Venetian Salon, Chateau le Jardin Conf Ctr, 8440 Hwy 27, Woodbridge, Thurs Sept 26 4-8pm Kinsmen Hall, Gellert Community Ctr, 10241 Eighth Line, Georgetown, Thurs Oct 3 4-8pm Peel Junior Farmers Hall, Brampton Fairgrounds 12942 Heart Lake Rd Caledon.  More info can be found by googling "GTA West Corridor".

IF it happens, goodbye to the Greenbelt and my dream of making the Streetsville to Orangeville railway (OMBRY) into a rail trail. Course they could put a bridge over it or a tunnel.

George, yes, they are soliciting input from the public for items "of value" to be taken into consideration. There is an opportunity to submit on a provided form at the public info sessions, and no doubt on-line too. Appears construction may be up to 10 years away.
