Touring Overview

Count yourself in for our weekend and mid-week tours of varying lengths and speeds through the rolling country around the GTA and beyond. As noted below, we have eight different speed and distance groups ranging from our Beginners to our fastest Sportif Group. We have organised rides on Saturday, Sunday & Wednesday mornings as well as Tuesday & Thursday evenings. Specific details of all scheduled club rides including dates, start times, start locations, ride group and, if posted, Tour Leader and planned cycling route information, can be viewed in our Cycle Club App account.

Riders new to the club are asked to contact the VP Touring either by e-mail prior to their first ride so that we can be sure that they join the group most suited to their needs. Riders are not locked in to any one group and may later change to a faster or slower group based on their comfort level.

Weekly Rides

  • Saturday morning rides are our main tours where all the groups depart from the same location. Each group has their own pre-designated leader & will ride independently of each other.
  • Sunday morning rides are cruising rides of various distances up to 100 km. A tour leader and the destination will be determined by the riders that shows up on the day.
  • Wednesday morning rides generally have no scheduled leaders, the distance/ destination/pace will be decided upon by the group which shows up on that day.
  • Tuesday and Thursday evening rides are training rides suitable for those who like to work hard. Classic and Touring groups departs from the Southfields Village School.

Safety
At the Brampton Cycling Club, safety is a number one concern. The club offers a number of skills clinics on safe riding techniques and everyone has a role to play to ensure that groups rides are safe for all the participants. 

Insurance
Official, insured rides are listed in our events calendar as club rides and club tours. Rides listed on the forum unofficial and not covered by insurance.

Due to insurance requirements, only riders insured with Ontario Cycling are allowed on group rides.
